GO TO CHURCH!

So, in our family we have a "rule" that if you don't go to church on Sunday and the rest of the family does, you have to make treats while the others are at church. I must say, I have not had the honor of making treats . . . until this last Sunday. (In Justin's defense, he often doesn't get a choice if one of us has to stay home with the girls. I have a lesson to teach.) I have spent Friday through Monday (and I am hoping not Tuesday) with the flu. YUCK! Well, as the boy twins set off for church on Sunday and I kept the girl twins home with me, I really thought I was off the hook this time. GOOD GRIEF, I WAS SICK! But oh no, on the way out the door, both boys said, "Don't forget to make treats before we get back." Despite my whining and trying to negotiate with them, all I got was, "You know the rule." So, off to baking I was. The result: a very messy kitchen and Ethan's favorite, frosted Sugar Cookies. Moral of the story, GO TO CHURCH! It's easier than the alternative!

Even though the above photo has cookies with Jac and Kate's names on them, I am not that nice of a mom. The girl twins are the healthiest eaters in the house and at 18 months, they don't need a big, sticky, sugary cookie with colored frosting and candy. (Like any of us NEED a cookie!) So, they watched the boys eat their cookies and they got a tiny bite here and there. Well, that wasn't good enough for Jacqueline! As soon as I left the room, she walked over to the table and picked off all of the candy corns off of the cookies. I found the cookies and said, "Jac, what happened?" With a huge, orange grin she said, "Numma-numma!" Too cute!

Blue Eyes-By Justin

One of the comments that we get all the time about our children is about their pretty blue eyes. For example, here is Ethan.

Kate.

I wonder where they got them from.

Alec the Middie

Cousin Alec introduced us to the world of lacrosse a few weeks ago when we visited his house. He played in a tournament here in Salt Lake this weekend, so we went over to watch. For those of you that have never seen this sport, I think you will like it. It is the only place in this world that you can take a full swing at someone with a metal stick, and as long as you are "reasonable close" to hitting the other person's stick, it is perfectly legal.

He plays in the midfield, which is why he has been nicknamed Alec the Middie. This is him (#8) battling for a face off.

Thanks for letting us come watch Alec, I hope we didn't embarrass you too bad.

Stickers the Chicken

Cole and Connor won this chicken at the fair. It wandered around our neighborhood for a couple of months. He liked to come over and clean up the crackers after the girls, and yes he would occasionally cross the road.

Stickers mysteriously disappeared. When we asked Cole where he went, Cole said his dad told him that Stickers "ran away."

These two LOVE to dress up--already!

Jac-Jac lookin' beautiful.

So pretty, girls! Love it!

Happy First Day of School Ethan!

Our first day of school tradition--CAKE! "Happy First Day of School Ethan" cupcakes. (In Spongebob cupcake papers, of course!)

Ethan in line with his good friend, Sylas (green shirt). They had Mrs. Barlow last year for Kindergarten and now Mrs. Bayles for first grade. School is going GREAT! Ethan loves it. His teacher is fabulous, even if she is a Utah fan! :) The transition was easier than we all thought it would be. He even enjoys lunch in the cafeteria, which is a big deal for this picky eater! He tried four new foods in the first week.

Jac and Kate sit at the front door waiting to walk Ethan to school each morning.

Mr. Goofball!

How cute is my big first grader?! Take note of the shirt--I had three shirts laid out for him to choose from for his first day of school. Ethan wanted to take a family vote (something that happens frequently around here for random events) and Justin and I chose the same shirt that was totally different than this one. Ethan's vote won with the reason of "I have to wear this shirt. It's BYU colors." Okay, you win.

Jac loves her single stroller!

Our three cuties!

Multnomah Falls, Ethan and Jac (Somebody help me figure out how to rotate this picture!)

Look Mom and Dad! We're ready to go to bed! JUST KIDDING! These two had the hardest time sleeping on this trip. Either Justin or I slept in the car with Kate for four nights straight! That part was not so much fun. No, Benadryl did not work.

Get me out of this *#@$ car!!!! (Fourteen hours was a bit much for all of us at times.)

"Can I please jump just one more wave?" (Repeat that to yourself 25 more times, then we were able to leave the ocean.) This boy loves the ocean. This was our last stop at D River before we started the trek home. None of us really wanted to leave . . . ever.
